Recommendations for Change
- # 148 |

No Novice Amateurs may show and intact jack in any event at NASMA sanctioned shows. |

Justification and impact if rule is not changed |
| Donkeys class are growing in popularity. The class sizes are sometimes larger even than the mule classes. Jacks are unpredictable and can cause a huge safety concern if not handled appropriately. Youth are already prohibited from showing jacks. Novice Amateurs lack the show experience to adequately and safely handle a jack in a show situation. It is a danger to themselves, other animals at the show and other exhibitors. We have had Novice Amateurs handling jacks at shows recently that have created very dangerous situations for all involved. These situations could have been prevented by a more experienced handler. If you are deserving of your NASMA Novice Amateur Card due to your experience, you should not be handling a jack. |

Committee Comments |
| The rule book already gives Show Management to right to remove any dangerous entry in a show. |
